Yubin Zhou is currently an associate professor at the Center for Translational Cancer Research, Institute of Biosciences & Technology (IBT) at Texas A&M University.  Dr. Zhou obtained his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Biochemistry and Chemistry from Georgia State University (with Dr. Jenny J. Yang) and received postdoctoral training with Drs. Anjana Rao and Patrick Hogan at Harvard Medical School and La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology.  His research is mainly focused on understanding how calcium ions are transported across membrane, how ion channels can be engineered to achieve tailored function, and elucidating the structure-function relationships and physiological roles of calcium channels in health and disease.  In parallel, his laboratory is exploring the frontiers of optogenetics and immunotherapy.
